So, well, the celebrations were sort of in the middle of all the 3 options.
Well there was flowers. And cake and food for the few souls that had gathered (mainly for the free food I suspect), but most of the invitees had been hijacked to an urgent top level meeting. Including my boss.
So it was all a bit lukewarm. The drama could not be played. The tears were needless. The jokes were kept hidden up the sleeve.
But what saved the day was catching up with close friends and old colleagues and pondering over the days gone by. Of horrible bosses, brilliant campaigns and ridiculous meetings.
What would’ve seemed like a horrendous performance appraisal, now seemed like an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond. That night when no one went back home, now looked like a carnival. That offsite and how everyone was so much more fun when they’d downed a few…
Its amazing how many anecdotes could be shared over 2 samosas and a choco-fudge cake. One can only imagine how many more would be revealed after a single glass of wine.
The rest of the day was spent closing paperwork and going from desk to desk to clear dues if any (was quite put off, actually…. small things that make a big dent, someone in HR listening?)
Exit interview today. Also time to catch up with some old friends and bosses at work. Looking forward. 🙂
