With exactly a week to go to my last day at work, it’s not difficult to imagine that I am on total exit mode. And I love it.
No one cares if I turn up to work (so I didn’t today-handed over all my work already, just in case you start judging me!)
So I, the owner of my time went to my in-laws place so they could play with the baby and I could get some work done.
Ah, the notice period. It’s that perfectly magical place between the last drawn salary and an unknown abyss where the 30th of the month has no financial significance.
So when it came down to filling up my exit form and answering the question ‘what are you going to miss most about this organization?’ My honest answer was ‘my salary’.
My constant companion through many a shopping sprees, drinks, restaurants and travels. Oh god how much I’m going to miss you my lovely.
Here’s an ode to that gorgeous little thing:-
Every month end as the mood was low,
You’d pop up in the account and my heart would glow,
As much as I cursed your size, I loved you all the more
With your weight in my wallet, I felt confident and sure,
Now that I won’t see your pretty face, life won’t be the same,
My online shopping budgets would have to be trimmed and tamed
No more ‘cute coasters’ or ‘that gorgeous blue dress’
My credit card, I’m afraid will need to be put to rest.
Till we meet again, my fair weather friend,
Hope you grace the insides of my wallet again!
Seriously. I really love you. Please don’t ditch me.
